Members blogs

Post by Admin on Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:18 pm

Following a discussion with some of our members that have migrated over from Twitter, we have decided to create this thread dedicated to blogs that relate to personal experiences and struggles with mental ill health.

Whether you are a serving member of the military or blue light services or not we are aiming to help anyone who needs it. Because nobody should be suffering alone.

There is help out there. Just know, you are doing so much better than you think, and you are stronger than the doubts and insecurities in your mind.

Writing can not only be incredibly cathartic but it can also offer a fantastic insight for others. In particular, you can relate better to others with mental health issues having read their struggles.

Please feel free to post your blogs below.

This blog is about mind over matter. I know it’s easier said then done. But it’s a must in order to keep a positive mindset.

After reading ‘SAS Who Dares Wins Leadership Secrets from the Special Forces’ and signing up to the Break-Point Prime Evolution Programme, I have learned to Breathe,Recalibrate and Deliver.

So what does this mean?

Breathe- When you come across a stressful situation, take a few seconds to breathe. Using the box breathing technique to help give yourself a clear mind.

Recalibrate-Prioritise the situation, what’s most important to be done what can be done at a later stage. Focus on the most important part and work backwards.

Deliver-Take the necessary action based on how you’ve prioritised the situation. As soon as you’ve adopted clear space on the most important task/priority you will be able to focus on the other tasks.

This is a great technique to use when you feel you can’t cope with a situation or you start a situation and it becomes to difficult/stressful.

Since reading about this technique it’s helped me keep a positive mindset in the most difficult situations.

One of the stressful situations I found was getting back into upper body exercises after fracturing my elbow and couldn’t manage a 20 minute workout without splitting it up throughout the day. The first day this really frustrated me. After taking time to Breathe and Recalibrate, I was able to Deliver without causing injury to myself.

The most important thing with any situation is to put your mind first but still be able to break walls down!

We have to break out of comfort zones with tasks and as we do this our mind will tell us we need to stop as it can’t cope. If we keep repeating the task it will get used to it and boundaries will be broken. We have to push ourselves but know when enough is enough and come back to a task at a later stage
Thank you for reading!
