Shifts
Hi
I am wondering if anyone here will be able to answer a question I have regarding Leicestershire Police shift patterns.
What is the current response shift pattern for PCs. I have heard that it used to be 222 (2x Early, 2x Late, 2x Night then 4 off)
Is anyone able to clarify what pattern response work at present? Thinking of joining, and am used to shifts, but have heard some get messed around with tidal rotating patterns, or 7 shift blocks.
6 on 4 off works for most!
Many Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Shifts
Dayshifts can start at anything from 0700 to 0900 and end anywhere from 1500 to 1800, backshifts usually start around 1400 or 1500 and end between 2200 and midnight. Nighshifts usually start between 2200 and 2300 and end about 0700. Cover shifts are a cross between backshift and nightshift and are mainly used at peak weekend times. Ours run from 1700 to 0300, although I personally don't do them. On top of those you will at some point have to attend court, so again the hours for court shifts can vary around the dayshift hours. The best person to speak to would be the recruitment department at your headquarters, who will probably be able to give you a full breakdown of the pattern, although it is possible that several different shift patterns operate within the force.

Re: Shifts
We took on the 2x2x2 in March , and I absolutely love it - your body steps down through the day with no fast shift turnarounds, and you seem to have loads of time off - I live in fear of it being changed now

Re: Shifts
6 on 4 off is pretty good really I remember doing 5 lates quick changeover to 4 earlies and 3 days off, then 7 nights quick changeover to 2 lates in a 5 week pattern so thank yourself lucky.

Re: Shifts
I hate our shift pattern, 8 hour shifts, 6-2, 2-10, 10-6. 3e, 3l, 3r, 3 variable ( e,l or n) 3n 3r and repeat. Constantly tired from chopping and changing.
